ABSTRACT

Direct influence of the nutritional habits in the glucose tolerance rates in sedentary people and sportsmen.

The body gets energy by the food´s metabolism, which is provided with regularity to fulfill the energy demands. The diet influences in the sanguineous glucose levels because the diet with an excess in protein and carbohydrates creates much insulin. If many carbohydrates are consumed the fat deposits are going to increase in the organism and if the diet is high in proteins, the insulin produce that the cells absorb more amino-acids that are going to be transformed in proteins (the glyconeogenesis mechanisms use proteins generally to be transformed in glucose, the energy necessary to fulfill a lot of things that the body needs). For this reason, people became applying glucose curves tolerance in two groups delimited by their age and physical activity (sportsmen and sedentary people) with the purpose to determine with other data like the IMC, hematocrit, glycemia curves and sanguineous creatinina levels, the relation between the sanguineous glucose levels and the food that each person eat during the life. The results said that there are sportsmen who have a very effective diet and therefore an answer to the ideal glucose curve, although other sportsmen present flat curves that indicate that they could have hypoglycemia. The sedentary people had a better nutrition than the sportsmen and so they show optimal glucose levels. Also, people determine in a very general vision that the sedentary people have a hematocrit higher than the sportsmen´s hematocrit.
